As manager of the setting it is my privilege to work with children, parents and staff to ensure time spent at The Ark Pre-school is a happy, positive experience. Over 30 years, I have taught children and delivered teacher and parental training in the UK, Africa and The Philippines. I have a deep interest in multi-cultural work and delight in combining that with my love for travelling. My husband and I have the joy of a blended family of 6 adult children and 4 grandchildren and relish spending time with them.
I’m originally from Liverpool but have lived in Brighton for 27 Years - I migrated south because of the warmer weather! I’m married with 2 teenage children who keep me on my toes. I’ve worked in Administration and Customer Service all my working life and now work in the pre-school office making sure all the paperwork is running smoothly. Do give me a call should you have a query, I am always happy to help.
I have worked in child care for 12 years, starting in Play work with older children and moving into Early Years work 9 years ago. I am a mum of 4 children and have lived locally for 14 years.
I am a firm believer that parents know their little people best and love to work in partnership with them to help their children reach their full potential. I feel truly privileged to work with this wonderful age group as I get to see them flourish and learn every day.
I have lived with my family in Brighton for 16 years, prior to which I lived and worked as a dental nurse in London. I have worked at The Ark Pre-school for over 5 years and thoroughly enjoy working with 2-5 year olds. I oversee behaviour management, keeping up to date with current thinking and legislation. My family has recently become members of the National Trust so spend weekends exploring their sites. I also enjoy running and just simply relaxing!
I have worked with children for 20 years as a nanny, a practitioner and a mother! I thoroughly enjoy my role as SENCO, ensuring every child has their individual needs met in the best possible way. My husband and I have two teenage daughters, one of whom has finished school. I like to spend time with my family walking the South Downs where I live, eating out with friends and camping around the UK.
I have over 20 years experience in the childcare profession, gained from my time as a room leader in a mainstream nursery, supervisor in a home from home setting and finally managing a pre-school for the last two and a half years. I left in order to write a book, which I am currently doing, but having the opportunity to come in and work closely with a child on a 1-1 basis, is an absolute joy and privilege.
I have a beautiful grown up daughter who is now married, and my partner and I have two dogs who share our lovely home in Goring, and keep us on our toes.
I am 16 years old and have wanted to work with children ever since I can remember.
For the past 4 years I have lived in a residential children’s home with numerous young children who had varying additional needs.
I assisted them with their school work and encouraged their socialisation skills.
I am working my Apprenticeship year at the Ark Pre-school and then aim to further my child care training.
To relax, I watch movies and socialise with my friends!
I have lived in Brighton for 12 years and first began working with children as a childminder 10 years ago when I started my own family.
I now have two lovely daughters and am returning to childcare at The Ark on a 1 - 1 basis.
I love working in a setting where every child matters. It is an honour and a privilege to be part of such a great team.
To relax there is nothing I love more than a walk along the seafront and a picnic on the beach with my girls.
I am studying Business, English and Maths at Varndean College and am also training to be a dance teacher. I am 17 and busy learning to drive! I love to dance and have been dancing since I was 3 years old. I aim to bring dance and movement to the pre-school, to develop new skills in the children as well as encouraging their love for dance.
In the future I would like to open my own dance company and teach dance to primary schoolchildren.
We have a small number of people we can call on to cover for staff sickness and staff attending courses. We try and keep this to a minimum number of people so the children feel secure and have consistency.
We are committed to staff development and all staff attend up to 4 courses a year. We aim to help all staff attain the highest standards possible for them. All our staff have DBS checks.
We often have students from different schools, colleges and universities who spend time with us during their training. They work alongside us and are mentored by practitioners.
